Holy Train

on a train crossing India
in the middle of nowhere

Enheduanna (2285-2250 BCE) was an Akkadian princess as well as High Priestess of the Moon god Nanna.

we stop unexpectedly

hundreds of holy men
bodies covered in ash
quietly storm the carriages
filling every empty space

above us, below us
they become
the lakewater coagulating
to support the weight of miracles

compacting their frames into places
they were never intended to go

occupying the arenas
devised to deny us entry
to the realm of our possibility
with their bodies demonstrating

the temporal is temporary
and discomfort is merely
a part of the journey

by the time we arrived
at our destination

they are gone
